On March 2, 2024 at around 6am Coach Walter was found by his 2 daughters 6 & 4 years old on his room floor unconscious. He suffered a brain hemorrhage in combination of a stroke. Although he received immediate medical attention we don’t know the severity of the damage. He had an emergency craniotomy, a major surgery. He is currently in the ICU. We still don’t know the prognosis but we are looking at a lengthy and extremely slow recovery at this time. It’s been a new battle everyday. He will be having numerous test and procedures to see what is causing a delay in his response for simple commands from his medical team. The family has set up a Go-fund me and I put the link below. Both boys and girls Basketball programs after talking with Walter’s family are planning to see how we can help. We thought the go fund me is good, but the company also takes money away. The family is literally been at the hospital everyday and looks to be a long road of days like this ahead. So are plan is to try and raise money for Jessica’s and the girls to use immediately for things they might need. If you would like to donate money by zelle, venmo, cash, check, or gift cards to food places that would be helpful. I will also be selling Rio Mesa basketball t-shirts and sweat shirts, with the proceeds going back to Coach Walter’s family. If you like to help out or purchase clothes, please contact coach Kiech. 3/6/25 Coach Walter is at homeand working everyday to get better. He was able to come to a couple of games in person this year. If he is not in the gym, he is at home watching us on Live stream
